7/12/2016 Annual Union Pacific Day at LATC Keynote: Sam Calabro, AVP Domestic Intermodal Sales


Sam Calabro, Assistant Vice President, Domestic Intermodal Sales Union Pacific Railroad

In February of 2014, Sam was appointed Assistant Vice President, Domestic Intermodal Sales. In his current role he manages a team of 28 Marketing and Sales professionals located throughout the United States. His team is responsible for managing all the activities for various domestic intermodal shippers including a variety of IMC customers, Motor Carriers, Premium containers, trailers and LTL shippers. His team also includes National account managers dealing with a wide range of Beneficial Owners.

8/23/2016 August Executive Speaker Series Meeting: Senior Executive Old Dominion Freight Line

Chip Overbey is Senior Vice President of Strategic Development for Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. where he has served for 20 years.  He has over 34 years of transportation and logistics experience.  During his tenure in the industry, he has held positions in distribution, warehouse operations, customer service, purchasing, sales and marketing.  His current responsibilities at Old Dominion include Marketing and Communications, Pricing, OD-Global Operation, OD-Technology and the Multi-Media Development.

Chip holds an MBA from the Babcock School of Business at Wake Forest University.  He completed his undergraduate work at UNC-Greensboro with a BS in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics.

Overbey is a native of North Carolina where he has lived all of his life.  He has been married 31 years to his college sweetheart Myra, who is a corporate tax consultant.  Myra and Chip have two daughters; Madison who is works at Wake Forest University in the Athletic Development Department and Cecily who is sophomore at North Carolina State University.

He is the Past Chairman of the Board for the Transportation Sales & Marketing Association, a past member of the Board-of-Directors for Davidson Community College, a 32nddegree Freeman Mason, an active member of the Piedmont Triad Salvation Army Food Bank and a member of Hope City Church in Wallburg, NC

9/13/2016 LATC Executive Speaker Series - David R. Parker, Covenant Transport


David R. Parker, Covenant Transport,has served as President since our founding in 1985 and as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") since 1994. 

Mr. Parker was elected to the Board of Directors of the Truckload Carriers Association in 1994 and also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Trucking Associations.  Mr. Parker has served as a director of several religious organizations and serves as general partner of the Parker Limited Family Partnership.
